Below are a few frequently asked questions (FAQs) that customers may sometimes wonder about the initial consultation visit and what is involved in the initial visit to your home or project location.

Free Ballpark Estimate

An informed quote for your dream home.

You’ll start by sharing a conceptual floor plan you’ve found and completing our easy MBI Ballpark Custom Home Questionnaire.

We'll create a ballpark estimate based on your chosen plans and questionnaire details, giving you a quick idea of your potential investment. Finally, we’ll schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss your estimate, answer any questions, and provide more details.

Land Visit

Moose Builders will visit your new home site to evaluate potential locations for your home, septic system, well, and easements. We will answer any questions about the specifics and complexities of your land to ensure a smooth home-building process.

Land Visit + Grading

In addition to the services offered during the land visit, Moose Builders can evaluate the proposed home-site and surrounding locations to provide estimates surrounding land grading/clearing costs.

Perc Test

Our team can also stake and mark locations for your home and perc test site according to local building and zoning codes, including arranging for the perc test hole to be dug. We handle all required paperwork and submit it to the county, meeting the county environmentalist on-site to address any questions.

Price Custom Home*

Moose Builders can work with your provided house plans or connect you with our in-network home design services for custom plans (additional fee applies). We will use the house plans, site specifics, and other factors to provide a detailed estimate, including allowances for selected items like tile, appliances, and fixtures.

This estimate will serve as the contract once you decide to proceed, and it includes all necessary information for a construction loan if needed.

  • Pricing for this package is up to a 2500 heated sqft home. Contact us for larger home plan pricing.

  • Custom home plans typically cost around $1900 for an 2501-3000 sqft home “under roof”, with prices varying by size with larger homes costing more and smaller homes costing less.

Custom Home FAQs

  • Once the consultation is scheduled, you will receive an invoice via email. You may pay directly online through the link on the invoice OR you may mail a check to “Moose Builders of NC, Inc to the address of 142 Family Faith Dr, Locust NC 28097.

    We recommend paying online as we will be notified immediately and will expedite the process.
